Spring is Here: Pollen to Fear

Spring does not only bring longer, warmer days and blooming flowers. It also brings what allergy suffers dread…pollen. There is not much you can do to avoid it, so with a good quality pleated furnace filter and/or air purifier will help clean your indoor air which in turn will help with your allergies.

Tree pollen is common for spring because it's when the majority of trees reproduce. The spring pollen season begins in February for most southern states and in the following months the farther north you go. During the month of April it is possible to see more than 20 types of pollen in the air. Towards the end of April is when the grass starts to pollinate and this goes through June.

You can not hide from spring pollens by only being indoors because indoor allergies are a year round problem. We all have dust mites, mold spores and pet dander (if you have indoor pets) in our homes year round. So the best way to help is to change your home air conditioning and heating filters on a regular basis.

Now that it's spring what better time to start some spring cleaning to help relieve allergies. By changing your furnace filter you can help capture most of those pollens. It is recommended to change your filters with the start of every season, to make sure that you get all the new pollens and debris in the air. So here is your spring reminder.

Another great way to help relieve allergies is to use a humidifier. A great source is Tools2Parts.com which has a large selection of humidifiers not to mention 60,000+ other products for around your home and more.

Changing Your Filter: How Often?

If your not sure when or how often to change your furnace or air conditioner filter; we are here to help.

All furnace filters have a recommended life span. There are a few elements that come into play when determining how often to change your furnace filters and air conditioner filters. Such as how many people and pets live in your home, does anyone in the home have allergies and/or does anyone smoke in the home. These are the most common things in your home that your filter captures and keeps from being recirculated through the air. Some other indoor air contaminants are mold spores and the normal dust that builds up indoors. You can also look at your filter, if it's before the recommended change and it's super dirty, change it.

You can go with a washable filter that should be vacuumed/washed off every 1-3 months. Since it's not a disposable we recommend doing this every 1-3 months to ensure the best performance from your filter and your system. Our best selling washable filter is the Naturalaire Electrostatic Washable Air Filter that come in a variety of sizes.

Your other option is disposable filters which can be a pleated filter or a basic fiberglass filter. Our best selling pleated filter is the Naturalaire Merv 8 Filter. These furnace filters have a life span of 3 months and come as a pack of 12 so you always have a new furnace filter on hand. They are excellent at collecting the unwanted particles from the air and protecting your system. Our best selling basic filter is the Flanders Precisionaire EZ Flow II Furnace Filter. These filters have a life span of 1 month and their main benefit is to protect the system but aren't as good as the pleated filter at collecting the unwanted particles from the air. If you just don't have the room for a case of 12 filters to be stored you can sign up for a service plan and we will ship you a new filter in the time increment that you choose.

Breathing clean air is not the only benefit of changing your filter. It also helps your system to achieve peak performance to prevent maintenance issues. So visit RememberTheFilter.com today.
